Reuse an OTP number

A rented number is not always single-use. Many rentals carry a window in which the same number can receive another code, and for Google products that window is often twenty-four hours and sometimes longer.

The window belongs to the product and the platform, not to optimism. The app shows what you actually have.

Step by step

1. Keep the receipt. It holds the number and the platform.
2. Request the next code within the window. On the same platform, on the same number.
3. Watch the await screen. It shows the timer and the state while it waits.
4. Read the expiry honestly. When a rental shows as expired, the window has closed. A new code then means a new rental, and a new charge.

What to expect

This is the difference that people running several accounts on one service notice most: a lockout that would otherwise need a fresh number every time can often be worked through on the number already paid for.

What goes wrong

• Assuming reuse is unlimited.
• Requesting a code on a different platform than the one the number was rented for.
• Paying again while the first rental is still live.
