What it is

A data bundle is a catalogue product, not a free-typed quantity of megabytes. The operator publishes plans — a size, a validity window, a price — and Kpali sells the ones it can actually deliver into that country.

That is why you choose a plan from a list rather than entering an amount. The list is the truth about what exists.

The bundle attaches to a phone number, the same way airtime does, and the person on the other end does nothing at all.

Why this is hard from another country

Buying data for somebody else's number across a border is harder than buying airtime, because a bundle is a named product with rules attached — a size, a validity, sometimes a network-specific condition — and getting one of those wrong wastes the whole purchase rather than part of it.

The usual workarounds compound the problem. Sending money means the recipient chooses, which is fine until they are the person who cannot get online to choose. Third-party resellers often list plans that the operator has already retired.

How to buy it

The money path is the same shape for every product, but the detail below is this one's.

1. Install Kpali and create an account. No bank account and no BVN are required to begin.
2. Fund store credit with stablecoin. Choose USDT or USDC and the network. The warning about the network sits above the address because the wrong chain cannot be undone. The minimum is stated before the address appears. Put your own email in to be notified, or somebody else's to credit them instead.
3. Wait for Home to show the credit. An address is not money; store credit is.
4. Open Mobile data. Home → country → Data → network → plan → Pay.
5. Check the recipient. A mobile number — read it back before paying.
6. Read the review sheet. It states what leaves your wallet, including the fee, before anything is charged.
7. Pay. If store credit cannot cover the amount plus the fee, Pay does not proceed and no provider is called.
8. Keep the receipt. The bundle lands on the number. History keeps the plan name, its validity and the delivery state.

A naira bank transfer buys store credit on the website's store-credit page, the one page on kpali.app that takes payment. That credit cannot be withdrawn.

What decides availability

Plans are pulled from what the operator publishes and what the catalogue can deliver. If a plan you remember is missing, it has usually been retired upstream. The list is the current truth rather than a cached menu.

Availability is declared up front. When something cannot be sold today the app says so and says why, which is better than a category quietly disappearing.

What you pay

Plan prices are the operator's, in the destination's currency, converted against your USD store credit. The review sheet shows what leaves your wallet before you commit.

No rate is quoted that cannot be honoured, and nothing is appended later. A total beyond your store credit stops at the Pay button, before any provider hears about it.

What the receipt carries

The receipt names the plan — not just an amount — with its size, validity and the number it landed on. Months later that is the difference between knowing what you bought and guessing.

When Kpali refuses outright, the debit reverses and the receipt says so in words. When the outcome is merely unknown, the receipt stays open and the correct response is to wait rather than pay again. For mobile data, an order still being checked means the provider has not confirmed the the bundle lands on the number yet — waiting costs nothing, paying again can cost twice.

Mistakes people make

• Buying a plan for the wrong network on a ported number, which is the single most common data mistake anywhere.
• Assuming a bundle stacks on top of an existing one — some operators replace rather than add, and that is the operator's rule, not Kpali's.
• Reading the price in your own currency and forgetting the plan is denominated in the destination's.
• Treating a short-validity plan as a monthly one because the size looked generous.
• Retrying when a receipt says it is still checking.

Questions

Why can I not just buy 2 GB anywhere?

Because operators sell packages, not raw megabytes. Kpali shows the packages that exist in that country and can be delivered.

Does the bundle work on any phone?

It attaches to the number, so it works on whatever handset holds that SIM.

Can I buy data for a country I have never been to?

Yes. Data is bought against a number in that country. If you want data for yourself while travelling, buy a travel eSIM instead.

What happens if the plan expires unused?

The operator's validity rules apply. Kpali shows the validity before you pay so the window is never a surprise.

Will I see the plan again later?

History keeps it with its name and validity, and the receipt keeps the full detail.

Is there a website checkout for data?

No. Data is bought in the app against store credit. The website sells the store credit itself, by bank transfer, on one page.

Can I buy several bundles at once?

Buy them one at a time so each has its own receipt. Whether they stack is the operator's rule.

Does data work if the SIM is roaming?

A domestic bundle is for domestic use. For data while travelling, buy a travel eSIM instead.

The same money, spent differently

There is a single balance behind everything here. Choosing a different product does not mean funding a different wallet.

• Travel eSIM — Data for where you are going, ready before you land. A QR code and an activation code on the receipt, and the pack itself under My eSIMs.
• Electricity — Prepaid tokens and postpaid bills, against your meter number. A prepaid token on the receipt, or a settled postpaid account with the receipt as proof.
